The device was mainly tested on Windows XP based OS. It was tested on 2 desktop PCs and a laptop which was carried around the house to test the range.
Ideally it should be used in a small office hall or a hotel lobby where you can easily roam around and stay connected.
But it is not all that dazzling; the device does have its shortcomings when you move a little further away from the wireless network source. Its small size and internal antenna do show signs of weakness. It works fine within the vicinity of a couple of rooms, but as soon as you move further away or say move downstairs you start to lose signal strength and its whole purpose is defeated. Don’t be misled into believing that it doesn’t perform well, in fact for its size, it performs magnificently. But it would create problems for you if there are lots of hurdles between the device and source (router/access point).
For security reasons the device also supports different encryption formats e.g. WEP and WPA. This is essential if don’t want illegal access into your machine through the wireless connection.
The support software is easy to install and operate. You can choose whether to let the software setup the wireless connection or you can let windows setup the connection for you.
It’s a tiny wifi adapter that plugs into you desktop or laptop via the USB/ USB 2.0 port. This device enables the user to instantly connect to the wireless network present in the area.
WiFi communication is the hottest thing these days. No wires - no worries is the slogan of many manufacturers making networking products. So, sure enough, ASUS has also come up with an interesting little product.
